Forrest Goblin Spider Rider

So it's been a while since my last post..

I have been pretty busy with real life stuff..

But.. i now have som spare time to try and continue with my project(s)

Although i did felt like trying to paint something a bit different that the massive amount of undeads i have in line :P.

So i got my sons blessing to try and paint some of his Orc & Goblins army.

I quite enjoyed painting something different that undead flesh all the time :D

The miniature i have painted is a goblin Spider Rider.. and i must say that finding a poisonious look for a spider is quite hard, but i googled a bit and found some spiders that Braad-82 had painted at warseer which i loved the look of so i though i would make my first spider just like that and i am quite satisfied with the result:

I have tried to wetblend the colors of the spider in a way where the joints are black.. and the orange/reddish colortheme looks - in my oppinion - poisonious :)

Terrain : Hill 01

I have decided to begin creating my very first complete hill.

I have never done one of these before and i really lack terrain.

So i have watched a lot of how-to videos (thanks to TheTerrainTutor) and i have begun this project. It doesn't look of much to begin with and i haven't got all the fancy materials or tools, so i have to build with what i have at hand:

1) Polystyrene blocks which i have saved from some sort of boxing many years ago

2) sand - original taken from the beach. It is fairly finegrained, yet it has a good mix of a few very small stones among the sand. This gives - in my oppinion - a more realistic look to the basing.

3) PVA glue (wood glue)

4) Green flock which i have had for about 30 years hidden away in a small box (i am not kidding) :D

5) Various colors of canvas paint bought at a very cheap price at a danish store called "Søstrene Grene" which is a very low priced shop.

6) en bunch of wooden sticks used to stir the coffee, cut into smaller bits

7) Very thin cardboard taken from a Cornflakes box

8) some very cheap brushes used for the glue and rough painting.

9) Static grass

And thats about it.. I will add more as the project continues.

The main idea was to build and end piece aimed to be placed either at a player end of the gaming table or on the side. The top of the hill should contain space for a building of some sort. .I havent decided on what type of building, but i might end up creating 1 or 2 building which i can change as i see fit. The small pieces of wood should represent the planks you put into the mud to prevent slipping in the mud. I have some spare balsa wood and i intend to make some sort of fence around the slope..

I have built a small stonewall on the top, for the building to be placed behind..

The sand has been painted thinned down brown canvas paint to allow the paint to sink into the sand, but yet so thick as it will lay a paint layer on top of the sand making it look at bit more like mud.. The "planks" will also have to be painted brown as worn wood.
